Fellowship in the American College of Dentists:

​

    The ACD is an honorary college; membership is by invitation only and given in recognition of services and devotion to the advancement of the Science and Art of dentistry.  Only 3-5% of all U.S. dentists attain membership. The college serves to advance clinical excellence, ethics, professionalism, and leadership in dentistry.  The ACD also aims to improve  the understanding of oral health  and it’s importance to total body wellness.

 

Fellowship in the International College of Dentists:

​

    Again, fellowship is by invitation only and is given in recognition of conspicuous services  rendered in the Art and Science of Dentistry. This is a global organization of which less than 5% of all dentists are members.  One of the most significant events in a dentist’s career is being recognized as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.  Such acceptance signifies that one has brought honor to the dental profession through devoted services and high ethical behavior.  The College was formed in 1928 to bring together the world’s outstanding members for the exchange of dental knowledge.

 

The American Dental Association:

​

    The parent association of all dentists, specialists and non-specialists. The primary function is to power the profession of dentistry and assist members in advancing the public’s overall oral health.

 

The American Academy of Periodontology:

​

    The Academy’s purpose is to advance the periodontal and general health of the public and promote excellence in the practice of periodontics.  Membership is limited to dentists who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal diseases, and in the placement of dental implants.

 

The Texas Dental Association:

​

    Founded in 1871, the TDA along with the ADA, regulates the practice of dentistry in the state of Texas  insuring  ethical competence in the delivery of dental services to the citizens of Texas.  This organization is an advocate for both dentists and general public.

 

The Texas Society of Periodontists:

​

    Membership limited to specialists in the field of periodontics.  Dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of clinical practice in the delivery of periodontal care to patients.  Research forum and continuing education programs.

 

The El Paso District Dental Society:

​

    The purpose of EPDDS is to unite ethical, licensed dentists in the El Paso area and to promote the Art and Science of Dentistry.  Also, to encourage the improvement of the health of the public and to represent the interest of its members and the public which it serves.  The EPDDS meets monthly for continuing education and sponsors the El Paso Dental Conference, an annual statewide, two day meeting hosting renowned dental authorities from around the world.  Dr. Pirk has been a presenter at this meeting on 6 different occasions.
